Cebu Pacific's Wandering Juan Travel Blog Contest

1. The Wandering Juan Travel Blog Contest seeks to recognize the best travel blog that inspires readers to travel through insightful writing, useful tips and beautiful visuals.
2. The Cebu Pacific Wandering Juan Travel Blog Contest is open to professional and amateur travel bloggers.
3. Nominees should be Philippine residents blogging in Filipino, English or Filipino-English for at least one year upon date of nomination.
4. The blogger may nominate himself/herself or can be nominated by his family and friends.
5. There is no nomination fee and the travel blogger is not required to have traveled via Cebu Pacific. The destination discussed in the post should, however, be about a Cebu Pacific destination. Complete list of destinations are available at www.cebupacificair.com.
6. The nominated blog must have its own site and URL dedicated to travel blogging. Posts about one’s travel on social networking sites are not part of the contest.
7. Nominations should be made under the following categories: --Leisure and Relaxation (includes entries on spa/medical tourism, shopping, entertainment, vacations and special personal events)
--Culture and Heritage (includes entries on food, history, landmarks, and local festivals)
--Adventure and Sports (includes entries on indoor and outdoor sports, backpacking, sports events, extreme sports, camping, hiking and wildlife encounters)
8. Nominations will be accepted online via www.wanderingjuan.com from June 1, 2010 to July 31, 2010.
9. Nominations must include the blogger's best post for the selected category, a one to two-sentence description of the blog, and the website URL. The full nomination form is available on www.wanderingjuan.com.
10. A blogger can be nominated a maximum of three (3) times per category. Should a blogger be nominated more than three times in one category, only the first three will be considered.
11. Nominations will be judged on Creativity (quality of writing), Usefulness/Relevance (sharing of tips, resources and lessons from the trip), Visuals (photos, sketches and other visual tools), and Blog Feedback (positive reader response, how the blog encourages others to keep traveling).
12. Initial nominations will be ranked to determine the top 10 for every category. Another screening will be held to determine the final five per category.
13. The final five per category will be judged by a CEB representative, an online media expert, and a travel book author.
14. The following criteria will apply to the judging of blog post nominations in each category: Creativity (30%), Usefulness/Relevance (35%), Visuals (20%), and Blog Feedback (15%)
15. Winners in the main categories will get the following prizes:
•Leisure and Relaxation Category: One (1) two-month travel pass on any domestic destination from September to October, and one (1) Fun Tours package with three (3) days and two (2) nights accommodation for two (2) at Shangri-la Mactan Resort and Spa, Cebu.
•Culture and Heritage Category: One (1) two-month travel pass on any domestic destination from September to October, and one (1) Fun Tours package with three (3) days and two (2) nights accommodation for two (2) at Marco Polo Plaza, Cebu.
•Adventure and Sports Category: One (1) two-month travel pass on any domestic destination from September to October, and one (1) Fun Tours package with three (3) days and two (2) nights accommodation for two (2) at Hilton Resort and Spa, Cebu.
16. A special award will also be given for the Best Travel Blog Photography (a Fun Prints Picturebook Travelers Edition package) and the Best Travel with a Cause Blog (a “Green” Fun Tours package at Badian Island Resort and Spa, inclusive of three (3) days and two (2) nights stay for two (2), inclusive of breakfast and one-hour spa treatment).
17. Winners’ upcoming travel blog posts (on trips courtesy of Cebu Pacific) will also be exclusively posted on www.wanderingjuan.com from September to October 2010. They should also mention Fun Prints and Fun Tours in www.wanderingjuan.com throughout September-October 2010.
18. Awardees will be announced and awarded in August 2010.

Cebu Pacific came up with a campaign that encouraged bloggers to travel the Philippines and write about it. Furthermore, they gave out prizes in several categories so that people were encouraged to engage in local tourism in alignment with their interests. If you could join this contest, it was really hard to resist the prizes of packaged tours and so many blogs participated and helped promote this contest. Overall, this contest benefited Cebu Pacific, the tourism blogging community and also all of local tourism.

Azrael ran two separate contests for the first three pocket watches and then for the final one.
The first contest:
1. Post a blog entry in your blog and post anything about "Alice in Wonderland" movie, if you need material, you can get materials here in my blog, just visit my movie feature about Alice in Wonderland movie. Be creative, any blog post style is ok.
2. Include a link of this contest in your blog and inform your readers that the movie will be available in all Philippine theaters starting March 4, 2010

Azrael had some really cool swag related to Disney's Alice in Wonderland to give away, and as a reward to his loyal blog readers, he setup the contest on his very own blog. Although modest compared to other contests, Azrael was able to set up a simple. fun, engaging contest.
