I got the chance to meet at least five (5) players in the group buying scene from November to the present coming up with various and some similar offers. Another player brought to my attention by a friend is Salamat.ph group buying site.
Most of the offers I see at the moment in group buying sites focused on salon services, food, and other hospitality type of services. For Salamat.ph, one only needs to print a coupon and present at the venue to avail of an offer. No need to pay it online.
I guess from a business model perspective, Salamat.ph can derive its revenue more on the placement rather than on every sale.
Although the group buying site offers are ok, I guess I need something more practical. Hope more will offer something similar to car rental coupons or six flags discounts done in other countries.
I mentioned car rental as this is a service I often avail when going around the metro and in nearby provinces. Although whether this market segment can really offer a group buying rate or not remains to be seen.
At least 2 video talk presentations about group buying will be posted online next week.
