Shopping at your own time and place: MULTIPLY, THE COUNTRY’S BIGGEST DIGITAL MALL

Multiply started in 2004 as a social networking company. Now it is transformed into a fully functioning e-commerce and social shopping site, and it all started here in the Philippines.

 

 It was around 2006-2007 when Filipino entrepreneurs started to use Multiply’s photo album features to advertise the products they want to sell and share online.  However it was only in 2008 when Multiply founders realized how big the Multiply community in the Philippines became. They began to listen to the users of Multiply and started to reinvent itself as the premier e-commerce and social shopping site in Southeast Asia.

 

Now, more and more people are using Multiply to sell their products online. “Multiply is very flexible.. When I was already an online shopper and I saw some sites on Multiply and I tried buying, it was really very easy to transact. That prompted me to use Multiply as a platform. First because of the album function;  it is very easy to navigate and customizable” Alwin Aguirre (Tough Brat Bags) said.  “I already have a lot of friends on Multiply and the site is also growing as far as popularity is concerned, so I decided I can actually invite those people to my site and transact from there” he added.

 “We were not that sure what the outcome would be, we know there is a need but we don’t know if it would really sell, so we don’t like to invest that much. Since Multiply is free, we can reach a lot of people not just Manila but also the provincial, and at the same time you’ll also have clients abroad. “ Jonie Cheng (Mamaway) said.

 

“At first when the ecommerce platform wasn’t introduced yet, the features that were in Multiply were immediately easy enough, and the fact that it is free is a big help. And as an online shopper myself for Multiply, I could see how easy it was even without the platform yet, so what more now that we have this.” Suyen Rivera Lopez (House of Flair) said.
