Year of Mobile Applications

I got the chance to interview JV Rufino last Saturday for our DigitalFilipino Talks episode. The whole conversation got me very excited about the potential of mobile applications as a productivity tool from a user point of view. On the business side, its potential as a revenue generator got me very optimistic on the new opportunities.

 

Ever since I started using the Globe iPhone 4, my application download has been steady. In addition to iTunes, just found out that you can also download applications from the Global WAP site and GetJar, an independent site that Globe partnered with recently that has thousands of applications available for download.

 

Look forward beefing up my phones with the necessary applications that can help make my day productive.

 

Some of my favorite mobile applications to date includes Twitter, Facebook, Chikka, Yahoo!, Skype, LinkedIn, Foursquare, Gowalla, Flickr, TED Mobile, PayPal, Inquirer, WSJ among others.

 

I am currently thinking as well on the potential of developing a mobile application for the DigitalFilipino Talks series. Well who knows, it might be sooner than later.
