facebook promotion is really cool and very lucrative - if positioned and timed right.

in my opinion, 30-50k is now considered to be the critical mass. with these numbers, you can already see more likes/fans coming in - social conformity, but of course that's in my experience and observation.

additionally, execution is one thing but managing the fans is another thing and its the most crucial part of having the said initiative because how you manage and take good care of your fans can also define your brand.

lastly, some people mistake facebook pages as profit, it may be in the long run but people who like your pages not because they want to buy something but rather they bought something from you. maybe not true to all brands or products but very true to the reality that we "hate ads".

so, in short, facebook pages is about building relationships with your costumers and thereby growing it gradually with the help of your ambassadors called fans. :)
